Blockade Services Group add new Vehicles and Equipment
14 September 2011
Following its aquisition of the first two Volvo FMX Tippers to be delivered to an operator in the South East earlier this year, Blockade
Services Group continues its policy of fleet replacement with the addition of a new wheeled loader and two new vans to its operation.
The company's latest aquisition for its Recycling Plant is a new Case 821E Wheeled Loader. Powered by a Tier III Case 667TA/EED diesel engine, the 821E uses a torque sensing autoshift transmission with four forward gears and three reverse ratios. The operator can opt for manual control of the transmission, or the gears can be shifted automatically as required. Forward and reverse shifting can be controlled using a shuttle switch in the head of the main hydraulic servo lever, allowing the operator to continue to work the attachment while changing direction. Both axles feature limited slip differentials, to maximise traction and boost productivity.
Commenting on the loading shovel, Steve Burrows (Managing Director) said "The 6.7 litre engine offers good fuel economy and will
improve our efficiency at the Recycling Plant. It will also afford more comfort for the operator, especially during the winter months and
offers many plus factors to Health & Safety".
The company has also taken delivery of two new Vauxhall Astravan ecoFLEX models, which will help to reduce the Company's carbon footprint and improve fuel economy. The company had a choice of common-rail turbo-diesel engines giving high fuel economy with low CO2 emissions.
"These new Astravans will prove very useful as they have a good load space for small plant and equipment etc". said Steve Burrows. "Our on-call Operations Managers can be called out at all hours, especially if we are working on a 'Night Planning' or 'Rail' contract where time is a critical factor".
"We have been very fortunate throughout the recession". said Steve. "We have continued to maintain a good work-flow throughout and will continue to replace and update our fleet and equipment where there is obvious benefit to our operation and our clients".
